We read it, run a conflict check against the parties you have named, and come back to you with either an initial view and a proposed scope, or a straight answer that the matter is not one for us. That normally happens within one business day.
It depends on the matter. Conveyancing and certain court work are governed by the Advocates Remuneration Order. For transactional and advisory work we agree the basis in writing before starting. That is usually a fixed fee for a defined scope, or an hourly rate with an estimate and an agreed point at which we come back to you. Disbursements are set out separately.
Yes. We maintain a South Sudan practice group led by an advocate admitted in both Kenya and South Sudan, and we act on matters in the Federal Republic of Somalia and Somaliland through a consultant qualified for that work.
Yes. Much of our cross-border work runs remotely and we are used to clients in other time zones. Nairobi is on East Africa Time, UTC+3, and the current local time is shown at the top of every page.
